Things To Do at Dolomite Resort Etosha National Park
Because the western part of Etosha National Park had been off-limits to
tourists prior to Namibia’s independence, this area is rich in biodiversity
with large numbers of wildlife visiting the waterholes around Dolomite Resort,
providing ample opportunity for extraordinary game viewing.
RESTAURANT AND BAR
Guests can relax in the restaurant or bar and enjoy the views over the
plains of western Etosha National Park from these communal areas.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant and lunch as well as dinner can be
enjoyed in this facility.
SUNDECK AND INFINITY POOL
During the hot afternoons when the animals hide from the sun, guests can
relax at the infinity pool and sun deck while enjoying some refreshments
from the bar.
Gaze over the vast plains from the coolness of the swimming pool.
FIRESIDE BOMA-AREA
One of the typical forms of entertainment enjoyed by African people, is
story telling around the campfire. Spend the evening exchanging stories
of your own experiences and sightings of rarely seen animals.
Sunset, sunrise and nightly game drives are offered to enrich your stories
and experiences.
SUNRISE AND SUNSET GAME DRIVE
Early morning and late afternoon guided game drives take you to the waterholes
around the area, with the added extra of experiencing the breathtaking African
sunsets.
Black-faced Impala, Hartmann's Mountain Zebra and both Black and White
Rhinos can be seen while doing a game drive with a professional guide.
GUIDED NIGHT DRIVE
A guided night drive gives you the opportunity to see some nocturnal animals
up close while visiting the exclusive corners of the park, previously only
known to conservationists..
Professional guides will teach you more about this area in Etosha that
has only been accessible to tour operators and researchers until fairly
recently.
BIRD WATCHING AND PLANT IDENTIFICATION
Because this dolomite outcrop is covered in trees and plants, there are
many species of birds to be identified and studied by bird lovers. Plants
along the pathways had been identified for those who are interested in learning
about the local flora of the savannah woodland.
Mopane trees are essential to the diet of the elephant and many of these
trees are found on the dolomite hill on which the Resort had been developed.
SELF-DRIVE GAME DRIVES
There are numerous waterholes around Dolomite Resort and large herds of
zebra, giraffe, springbok and the previously endangered black faced impala
can be seen. Lions might just hang around the waterholes, waiting for their
food to come closer to make the fight for survival a bit easier.
Black and white rhinos and even the very scarce sable antelope can be seen
in this area. The Hartmann's Mountain zebra isn't found in the east of Etosha
but can be seen in the area around Dolomite Camp.
SHOP AND COMMUNICATION SERVICES
A Curio shop is available on the premises where you can acquire some African
art as gifts for those not travelling with you.
Strong and reliable mobile service and Wi-Fi is a rare luxury in the Namibian
bush, but guests are welcome to make use of the connectivity available at
the communal areas around reception and the restaurant. Catch up on your
messages from home and check in with friends, but don't spend too much time
thinking about work!
